Because church facilities are allowed in most Colorado municipalities’ zoning categories, an affordable solution is to locate an existing facility for sale. It may be an office condo, a small office building, or a small retail building or center. Through creative space planning, it often can be purchased, repurposed, and remodeled for significant savings to constructing a new building.

Journey Christian Church
Greeley, Colorado

It was time for Journey Church to find a home for their growing congregation. Agur Foundation worked with church leadership to locate an existing twin movie theater that would be completely renovated and would be perfectly suited for Journey Church. 

How Agur Foundation helped:

  • Completed due diligence on the facility and then acquired the facility;

  • Repaired, remodeled, repurposed, and retooled the facility to fit the start-up Journey Church plan;

  • Passed the interest payments through Agur to fund international churches and domestic ministries.

Client Case Study: Repurposing an Existing Office Property

Renovate Church
Centennial, Colorado

Renovate Church was looking for a new place to call home. Agur Foundation worked with church leadership to locate an available office condo within close proximity of its former location. The two-story, 16,400 square-foot office condo was repurposed to include a large upper floor sanctuary and lower floor meeting and ministry rooms.

Some benefits to rebuilding/repurposing commercial properties:

  • As a result of COVID-19, many commercial, retail, and office buildings are empty across the Front Range

  • They contain ample parking required for church use

  • The landscaping can be professionally-maintained
